The MTV show The Shannara Chronicles is based on a series of books by Terry Brooks. As would be expected from an MTV program, the cast is young and good looking. The lead hottie (IMO) is Austin Butler, the 25 year old blond that plays Wil Ohmsford. Wil is a half-elf that joins forces with the elf princes Amberle and a sexy rover/con-artist named Eretria, played by Poppy Drayton and Ivana Baquero.

The three are on a quest to save a tree that protects the four lands from a bad-ass demon called Dagda Mor. As the tree dies, a demon army is being raised to do Dagda Mor’s bidding. Other characters and backstories of love, war, betrayal, and magic abound but it’s the three main characters that drive the story.

Wil is a poor hot mess. His first journey from the farm and he is exposed to bandits and magic then thrust into a life-threatening quest and a bizarre love triangle. Wil is totally into the princes and and Eretria who are both equally into him. Who wouldn’t be? Will has a cute boyish face and farm-boy naivete with a smoking hot body and elven stamina.

For a former D&D player that enjoys a action/fantasy, this show has it all: good story, hot cast, decent special effects, fight scenes, comedy, and love story – all in one! Let us hope that season two is just as good.
